ZzzStake
Privacy Policy
ZzzStake is a self-commitment app: you stake an amount of money against your own sleep-score threshold, and get it back if you hit it. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what information the app collects, why, and who else ever sees it. ZzzStake is under active development. Some features described below — in particular, real Apple Watch sleep-score integration and real payment processing — are not yet live; this policy will be updated as they ship, and is written to describe how the app actually behaves today.
Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect an email address and password (stored as a one-way cryptographic hash, never in plain text) — or, if you sign in with Google, the name and email address on your Google account. We also collect your full name, a username, and your date of birth (used only to confirm you’re 18 or older; the app is not available to anyone younger).
Sleep score data. The app is designed to compute a sleep score from your Apple Watch’s raw sleep-stage data. This native integration has not shipped yet — no real sleep data is currently read from any device. Once live, this data (and the score computed from it) will be stored against your account, since it’s what a stake resolves against.
Stake and dispute information. The amount you stake, your chosen score threshold, the date window, your charity or cause choice, and the outcome (kept or forfeited) of each stake. If you dispute a resolution, the reason you provide and any reviewer notes.
We do not collect your location, contacts, or photos. The app has no analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs of any kind — nothing about your usage is measured or reported beyond the app’s own functionality.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and secure your account, and let you sign in.
- To compute your sleep score and resolve stakes against it, once native integration is live.
- To send you a password-reset email if you request one.
- To process a real-money charge if you miss your threshold, once real payment processing is live.
Who We Share Information With
We never sell your information. It is shared only in these specific, limited ways:
- Neon — our database provider. It stores your account, stake, and sleep-score data securely.
- Google — if you choose to sign in with Google, we verify your identity with Google and receive your name and email address from them. We do not receive your Google password or any other Google account data.
- Resend — our email provider, used only to send you a password-reset link if you request one. It receives your email address for that purpose only.
- A payment processor (not yet live). Once real-money staking launches, a licensed payment processor (e.g. Stripe) will hold your card details directly — ZzzStake itself never stores your card number. This section will be updated with the specific processor before that feature ships.
There is currently no feature that shows your data to other ZzzStake users — there is no social or leaderboard feature yet.
Data Retention and Deletion
ZzzStake does not yet have an in-app account deletion option. To delete your account and all associated data (sleep records, stakes, disputes), email us at zzzstakesupport@kalotech.dev from the email address on your account. We’ll confirm once it’s done. An in-app deletion option is planned before this app is submitted to the App Store or Play Store.
Data you haven’t deleted is retained for as long as your account remains active — we don’t automatically delete stake, dispute, or sleep-score data after a fixed period. Financial transaction records (once real payments are live) will be retained as required by applicable financial recordkeeping law, even after an account deletion request.
Children
ZzzStake requires you to be 18 or older to create an account, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Security
Passwords are stored as one-way cryptographic hashes, never in plain text. We rely on our database provider’s security infrastructure to protect your data. No method of storing or transmitting data is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way — including when the features noted above as “not yet live” actually ship — we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page.
